OA-15 Frequent Faux Pas in Applying Wideband Current Feedback Amplifiers
نویسنده
چکیده
As op amp operating speeds have moved to ever higher frequencies, a whole new set of design concerns have come into play for linear op amp applications. With the development of the current feedback topology, design concerns unique to that topology must also be considered if optimal performance is to be achieved from devices offering over 200 MHz −3 dB bandwidths. This discussion will review some of the considerations common to all wideband linear op amp applications as well as topics unique to the current feedback topology pioneered by Comlinear Corporation. These design guidelines are intended to help the designer get the full potential out of Comlinear’s high performance, current feedback, operational amplifiers. Since there are quite disparate areas to consider here, the approximate order of discussion will follow a perceived frequency of occurrence ranking. Those considered first seem to impact every designer, with more particular concerns dealt with later.

FPGA Implementation of a Hammerstein Based Digital Predistorter for Linearizing RF Power Amplifiers with Memory Effects
Power amplifiers (PAs) are inherently nonlinear elements and digital predistortion is a highly cost-effective approach to linearize them. Although most existing architectures assume that the PA has a memoryless nonlinearity, memory effects of the PAs in many applications ,such as wideband code-division multiple access (WCDMA) or orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM), can no longer b...

The need for high speed, wideband amplifiers is the driving force behind the development of the Current Feedback Amplifier (CFA). The CFA has significant advantages over conventional amplifiers in terms of slew rate performance and inherently wide bandwidth. This paper provides a review of the theory and design of current feedback amplifiers.
متن کاملDigital Perdistortion Technique for Compensating Memory Effects of Power Amplifiers in Wideband Applications
The application of digital predistortion in base band signal is an extended method of amplifier linearization to reduce the Adjacent Channel Interference (ACI) in those systems in which a varying envelope modulation scheme like OFDM and MQAM is used. Digital baseband predistortion is a highly cost-effective way to linearize Power amplifiers (PAs), but most existing architectures assume that the...
متن کاملSupply Modulator for Linear Wideband RF Power Amplifiers
This paper deals with the design techniques of power efficient switching regulators intended for linear power amplifiers (PAs) employing envelope tracking techniques in wideband wireless standards. The bottlenecks involve a tradeoff between ripple voltage, slew rate and bandwidth. The slew rate limitation is identified as the main challenge; thus a ‘bang-bang’ slew-enhancement technique is prop...
متن کاملGaN Power Amplifiers: Results and Prospective
This article is focused on GaN-based power amplifiers for applications up to 10 GHz. Several PAs developed in both MMIC and hybrid technologies for different RF and microwave frequency bands will be described. In particular, the designs of two ultra-wideband (UWB) PAs are reported together with experimental results. The first one is based on commercial GaN-on-SiC technology while the other one ...
